The End of LoadRunner VUDs: Everything You Need To Know

LoadRunner VUDs Everything You Need to Know

Micro Focus has announced the end of Virtual User Days (VUDs) for LoadRunner Professional and LoadRunner Enterprise.

This blog will cover everything you need to know, including:

  1. Why This is Not the End of LoadRunner
  2. Key Dates You Need to Know
  3. What to Do if You Need VUDs
  4. Is Micro Focus Replacing VUDs
  5. A Potential Replacement to Consider

If you use LoadRunner Virtual User Days (VUD’s) to performance test, then read on…

1. This is Not the End of LoadRunner

This is NOT the end of LoadRunner Professional or Enterprise. You can still buy LoadRunner Virtual Users (Vusers). This only affects those who use Virtual User Days – used by those that test less frequently or if you need to test to more users than you already have.

2. Key Dates You Need to Know

31/07/2021: End of Sale – If VUDs form part of your performance strategy for the next 12 months, then you still have time to purchase as many as you need. We recommend you Get in touch with Calleo Software.

30/09/2022: End of Support – VUDs will no longer be usable from 1st October 2022. If this will cause issues, Calleo can help you sort out the best alternative – this could be a new license arrangement or a migration to LoadRunner Cloud. Get in touch and we’ll start the process rolling.

What These Dates Mean For You

You can buy VUDs until 31st July 2021. Realistically though, to avoid missing out you will need to get orders to us by 28th July.  VUDs will be available to use until consumed or 12 months from the installation date, whichever is sooner.

After that date though, you will need another option. Calleo can help you transition to LoadRunner Cloud or work out a new LoadRunner license package. Either way, we’ll ensure you can carry on performance testing and get even more value from your Micro Focus products.

3. If You Need to Buy VUDs – Act Now, Before You Run Out of Time

Time has a habit of getting away from us all – Calleo strongly recommends you purchase the VUDs you need before it’s too late.

You will need to get orders to us by 28th July at the latest – but sooner is better, after all, you want to know you have the VUDs ready, and you have 12 months to use them.

If you’re in the UK or Ireland, Calleo can help you.Get in touch with us today, we’ll make sure get the VUDs you need in plenty of time and without any drama.

4. Is Micro Focus Replacing VUDs?

We have been told that yes, Micro Focus is going to replace VUDs. However, nothing has been announced yet. We’ll be staying close to developments, sign up to the Calleo mailing listand we’ll let you know when there’s any news.

5. Why LoadRunner Cloud is a Great Alternative to VUDs

As an alternative to VUDs, have you considered LoadRunner Cloud?

LoadRunner Cloud is a SaaS performance test tool. It offers the same performance testing capabilities as LoadRunner Professional, but with additional benefits:

  1. LoadRunner Cloud offers Virtual User Hours – These are more flexible than VUDs
  2. You can save money on physical infrastructure – LoadRunner Cloud comes with cloud-based infrastructure including load generators
  3. You always have the latest version and up-to-date features
  4. You can use LoadRunner Cloud Globally and test from global load generators
  5. It’s Simple, Smart and Scalable

Why Not Book a LoadRunner Cloud Demo?

LoadRunner Cloud is one of those products you have to see to believe. It offers simplicity and ease of use, combined with power and flexibility. Why not book a LoadRunner Cloud demo today?

Choosing Performance

How to Choose a Performance Testing Tool

If you’re looking for a new performance tool or new to performance testing, it can be a tough subject to get your head around. I’ve been involved in the industry for 3 decades, and during that time, it has evolved massively. Increasingly, I talk to people at companies who’ve never

DevWeb is better than JMeter

5 Ways DevWeb Is Better Than JMeter

JMeter often becomes the default because it looks free. There is no license fee, and it appears flexible enough to do almost anything. But JMeter’s ease is often a myth. In reality, it is rarely the most sensible or low-cost choice.

Testing is Vital

Seriously Though, Five Reasons Testing is Vital

In the last main Testing Times edition (April fools day), I argued, quite ludicrously, that testing is a waste of time. That it slows releases, costs money, and ruins everyone’s fun. Judging by the comments, a few readers took it a bit too literally. So let’s be serious for a minute.

Aviator Testing AI

DevOps Aviator: AI Made For Testers

DevOps Aviator brings generative AI into software delivery to help test teams move sooner, reduce manual effort, and get answers faster. It is part of the broader Aviator suite: a set of AI capabilities embedded across OpenText products.

Testing is a waste of time

5 Reasons Testing is a Waste of Time

Let’s be honest, testing is what teams do when they don’t trust their developers. It’s a tax on speed, a relic from waterfall days, and a crutch for people afraid to ship. It just slows down releases, kills creativity, and wastes budget that could be better spent on another sprint.

OpenText Summit 2026

OpenText Summit: Why This Free Event Is Worth Your Time

You walk into a room where people are talking about the exact problems you wrestle with: tricky deployments, clunky processes, and how to test faster. Sometimes, the right conversation with the right person is enough to unlock a solution or a possibility you hadn’t even considered.

Python

Functional Testing 26.1: Adds Python, Cloud Testing, and more AI

With 26.1, OpenText is giving you something concrete: Python‑based automation, AI‑assisted verification, and cloud labs that fit into your existing CI/CD. This turns functional testing from a separate QA activity into a shared capability that developers, SDETs, and testers can all contribute to.

LoadRunner AI

LoadRunner 26.1: A New Direction in Performance Testing?

OpenText’s version 26.1 is a clear statement of where the Performance Engineering (LoadRunner) family is heading: AI-assisted, simplifying complex tasks and enabling your team to be more productive. This creates a very practical question: how do you buy and deploy these new capabilities in a way that actually moves the needle on risk, cost, and delivery speed?

Hooked on Open Source

Revealed: How Consultancies Get You Hooked on Bad Tools

Picture the scene: you’re about to engage a consultancy for testing services, and their proposal leans heavily on open‑source tools, but there’s a nagging doubt… a misalignment between what you’re paying for and what they’re delivering.

You want the guidance and support to prevent costly mistakes; they want more billable days.
