These LoadRunner Cloud Updates Make Performance Testing Better in 2026

Performance testing 2026

LoadRunner Cloud gives teams a SaaS platform for creating and running performance tests without having to build and maintain all the supporting load-generation infrastructure themselves.

Officially named OpenText Core Performance Engineering, LoadRunner Cloud can simulate anything from a small number of users to millions, across different locations, applications and technologies.

2026 has seen three new releases (26.1, 26.2, and 26.3) that have introduced a wide range of improvements that help teams spend less time wrestling with performance testing and more time finding and resolving risks.

Here are the changes that could make the biggest difference to you, and important notices for existing customers.

1. Get to Useful Answers Faster

Introduced in 26.1 and expanded in the subsequent releases, the Core Performance Engineering MCP server lets users retrieve run summaries, errors, transaction data, reports and virtual-user logs through natural-language requests, rather than manually navigating multiple result sets to find a particular piece of evidence.

This is included within your LoadRunner Cloud license but requires a compatible external AI client, which may have its own licensing requirements.

Earlier in 2025 (25.3), users of the separately licensed Core Performance Engineering Analysis service also gained access to conversational exploration of test results, AI-assisted error analysis, and natural-language dashboard generation.

This AI tool is an extra cost, but can have a huge positive impact on your performance testing productivity. It can receive data from Core Performance Engineering monitors and scripts, giving analysts a broader evidence base when investigating performance problems..

2. Create and Maintain Scripts Faster

Introduced in 25.3, the separately-licensed Core Performance Engineering Aviator initially helped users select suitable protocols, solve coding tasks, analyse errors, optimise scripts and summarise completed scripts.

Subsequent releases have made that assistance more context-aware and extended it into additional scripting environments::

  • Suggesting appropriate next steps based on a script and its execution context
  • Summarising the parameters a script uses
  • Helping interpret Java protocol error logs
  • Creating data files within the script folder

Aviator assistance is now available in the TruClient 2.0 JavaScript editor, where it can help generate code and suggest fixes. This gives testers support within the work they are already doing, rather than forcing them to move scripts and errors between separate tools.

It’s also worth noting that an AI Usage report introduced in 26.2 can help organisations monitor adoption and determine whether they are obtaining sufficient value from the service.

3. Turn Existing Traffic and Specifications Into Tests

Across the three 2026 releases, OpenText has expanded the ways teams can turn existing technical information into executable tests.

Introduced in 26.1, the DevWeb MCP server could record scripts, generate them from HAR or Swagger files and run them in different execution modes. Release 26.3 extends those capabilities with additional scripting guidance and Beta support for identifying likely parameterisation candidates such as usernames, passwords and user IDs.

You can also generate a DevWeb script from HTTP traffic captured in a Wireshark file. DevWeb now supports CSV-based scripts as well, along with the option to force IPv4 or IPv6 execution.

For Web HTTP/HTML scripts, OpenText has improved standard and proxy-based recording, certificate creation and WebSocket recording. Non-blocking socket support has also been added.

4. See More of the Real User Experience

LoadRunner Cloud dashboards can now display CPU utilisation, free device memory and memory consumed by the application during TruClient Native Mobile tests.

Teams can therefore compare application response with what is happening on the mobile device and spot resource problems that server monitoring alone might miss.

Dynatrace monitoring has also been updated to use API v2 credentials and expose many more numerical infrastructure metrics. This provides more context for linking slow user journeys to problems in the underlying environment.

5. Model More Technologies, Locations and Execution Conditions

Release 26.3 adds an AWS cloud load-generator location in Spain, giving organisations another option for generating traffic closer to users or services in that region.

Web HTTP/HTML scripts can now run as threads or processes, providing more control over how virtual users consume load-generator resources.

OpenText has also extended its technology coverage:

  • The .NET+ protocol now supports testing on Windows-based on-premises load generators, in addition to existing SaaS based load generators.
  • Citrix compatibilityhas been extended to Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix Workspace 2507 LTSR.
  • Kafka code generation uses a simpler Builder pattern.
  • LLM scripts support Anthropic and compatible custom models, with more control over whether execution waits for a model response.
  • TruClient Web adds support for Chromium 149, while TruClient 2.0 and Web HTTP/HTML receive further stability, security and editor improvements.

This breadth is one of LoadRunner’s longstanding strengths. It allows organisations to test more of their landscape within a single tool, rather than assembling and maintaining a different solution for every technology.

Existing Customer Notices:

OpenText plans to deprecate the old API Access Keys page and username-and-password authentication for agents, on-premises load generators, APIs and plugins in the next release.

Existing customers should create replacement keys through Administration > Core Performance Engineering Platform before the older options are removed. This will help avoid authentication failures and service disruption following a future update.

Organisations using Application Insights monitoring should also update existing monitors to use the newer extra ID authentication. Monitors that continue to use API-key authentication will stop retrieving data when Microsoft enforces its corresponding security change.

TruAPI tests are no longer supported (as of release 26.2). Customers with remaining TruAPI coverage should therefore review how those tests will be replaced.

Is LoadRunner Cloud Right for You?

LoadRunner Cloud is designed for organisations that need credible performance testing without the cost and effort of maintaining a complete on-premises test lab. It scales from SME to enterprise. It combines cloud-based load generation, broad protocol coverage, global test execution, detailed analysis and integrations with the tools surrounding modern application delivery.

If you are reviewing your current performance testing approach, Calleo can help you understand whether LoadRunner Cloud fits your applications, delivery model and budget. We can also arrange a tailored demonstration so you can see how it would work with your own testing requirements.

Software Testing Risk

Is Remote Software Testing Creating New Risks You Haven’t Even Considered?

Increasingly, organisations expect remote and hybrid testers to use borrowed tool licences, unstable VPNs, and software never designed to leave the office. That creates significant compliance and security risks that can turn into serious long‑term problems.

It’s not the testers per se, but remote execution over on‑prem licences is a software audit waiting to happen. Read on to learn why a compliance nightmare isn’t the only reason your test setup might not be fit for distributed and home‑working team members.

Waiting into Testing

Turn Waiting into Testing. How to Cut Costs & Accelerate Delivery

Testing is a funny role sometimes. You can be prepped and ready to go, test plans written, data prepared and everything poised for testing to begin… Then nothing happens.

A critical API hasn’t been delivered. The SAP environment is being used by another team. A third-party system is unavailable. So, you wait. Sometimes for days. Often for weeks.

Testers: Why 10 Minutes a Day Could Save Your Career

Who do you want to be? The ex-tester bemoaning the rise of AI and the disappearance of the profession they once knew? Or the expert tester using AI, automation and every available tool to become more capable and valuable than ever?

Terrified of AI TT

The Software Testers Who Should Be Terrified of AI

The testers who should be terrified of AI are probably not the ones people usually talk about. And it’s not about whether you’re a functional, performance, automation, or security tester, or any other discipline. Those categories are basically irrelevant to your survival in the new world.

Agentic Testing

What is Agentic Testing & Why Does it Matter?

Agentic testing is one of those phrases that has started appearing everywhere. There’s an underlying assumption that everyone already knows what agentic workflows are, but many don’t. So what does it mean? And more importantly, does it actually matter right now?

From Chatbots to Platforms: Where AI-Based Testing Is Really Heading

The way most people have been using AI for testing is handy for a quick script stub or some test data ideas, but it’s a long way from an industrialised solution. For most teams, “AI testing” still sounds like a future promise rather than a secure, business-ready solution embedded in how their organisation works. It feels like something happening on the fringes, or more realistically, on a tester’s personal chatbot.

AI for Test Data

How to Implement AI for Test Data: 10 Considerations

Test data has always been one of the slowest, least glamorous parts of software testing. It is rarely strategic work, but it holds everything up. No matter how good your test plan is, weak data can make the whole exercise unreliable.
